Aden (AFP) - A suspected Al-Qaeda suicide car bombing at a military intelligence headquarters in southern Yemen killed one person Tuesday and wounded 13, an official said.
The attacker detonated the car outside the gate to the security building in Tuban, 15 kilometres (nine miles) north of Aden, killing a soldier on guard and seriously damaging the facility.
Medics said five soldiers and eight civilians were wounded, among them two children. Some of the civilians were passers-by while others lived in nearby homes.
'It seems Al-Qaeda is behind the attack,' the source said.
Yemen has seen regular attacks on its security forces, usually blamed on Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which remains active in the south and east despite several military campaigns to crush it.
Three suspected Al-Qaeda militants, one a Saudi, were killed Sunday in the southern province of Shabwa when a car bomb they were preparing apparently detonated accidentally.
